In short: We collect only what we need to run the site — your email for account verification, the content you submit, and standard usage analytics. Your email is never shown publicly. Verification evidence (like screenshots) stays private. We don't sell your personal information.

1. Information we collect

Account information: your email address and chosen display name when you create an account or submit a review.
Content you submit: reviews, ratings, owner responses, and claim requests.
Verification evidence: if you verify a review or claim a listing, the evidence you provide (such as screenshots or receipts). This is used only for verification and is never published.
Usage data: pages visited, searches, outbound clicks, device/browser type, and approximate location (from IP address), collected via cookies and analytics tools.
Fraud-prevention signals: technical signals (such as IP address and submission patterns) used to detect fake or abusive reviews.

2. How we use it

Operate and improve the Site.
Verify reviews, accounts, and listing claims.
Moderate content and prevent fraud and abuse.
Send transactional emails (verification, claim status, responses to your review). Marketing email only with your consent, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
Measure what's working (searches, page views, outbound clicks) in aggregate.

3. What we show publicly

Your published review appears with the display name you chose (first name and last initial, or "Anonymous Member"), your membership status, and your review content. Your email address is never displayed publicly. Verification evidence is never displayed publicly.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

Service providers that help us run the Site (hosting, database, email delivery, analytics), under agreements that limit their use of your data.
Legal requirements: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of users, the public, or CommunityReviewer.
Business transfer: if CommunityReviewer is acquired or merged, user data may transfer as part of that transaction, under this policy's protections.

Community owners can see and respond to published reviews of their community, but they do not receive your email address or verification evidence.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand site usage through analytics tools. You can block cookies in your browser; some features may not work without them.

6. Retention

We keep account data while your account is active. Published reviews remain on the Site to preserve the integrity of the review record, but you can edit or delete your own reviews at any time. Verification evidence is kept only as long as needed for verification and dispute handling, then deleted.

7. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing privacy@communityreviewer.com. Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK and California), you may have additional rights, such as data portability and the right to object to certain processing. We honor valid requests as required by applicable law.

8. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be flagged on the Site.
